Dr. Bertrand Dussert is the founder and president of Dussert Consulting, LLC, a company offering consulting services in the water treatment arena. He is an adjunct professor of wastewater treatment for the masters of environmental studies program in the Department of Earth & Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA). He is also the director of the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) Americas hub region.

Dr. Dussert is a water and wastewater treatment expert with over twenty years of experience. He has extensive expertise in water treatment technologies including ultraviolet disinfection (UV), ozone, chlorine dioxide, chlorine, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), and physical processes such as activated carbon and membrane separation.

Prior to becoming a consultant to the water treatment industry, Dr. Dussert was the global product manager of UV technologies at Siemens Water Technologies (Vineland, NJ, USA) and held various management positions (R&D, marketing and commercial development) at Calgon Carbon Corporation (Pittsburgh, PA, USA). During his tenure at Calgon Carbon, he directed the project that led to the discovery of UV being readily effective for the inactivation of Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts. He is a co-author of the peer-reviewed article "Medium-Pressure UV Light for Oocyst Inactivation" (Journal AWWA, Vol. 91, No. 3, 86-94) that received in 2011 the Classic UV Paper Award by the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA).

Dr. Dussert is first-named inventor or co-inventor in five water technology patents and is the author of over 50 technical papers.

Dr. Dussert is the immediate past president of the International Ultraviolet Association (2009-2011), and served on the board of directors from 2001 to 2011.
