IUVA's New Executive Director

Washington, D.C. – The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA), the leading voice for ultraviolet technologies worldwide, has appointed Deborah Martinez, Executive Director. Ms. Martinez began her work in that position in June and one of her first responsibilities will be to open an office in Washington, D.C. In her new role, she will provide leadership, strategic guidance and management for the daily operations of IUVA.

Previously, Ms. Martinez was Director of Programs for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Foundation, and she served as the Director of Education and Conferences for the Society of Military Engineers. She also formerly served as Executive Director of the Society of Geriatric Cardiology. She has extensive experience in higher education and association management, which includes working with the American Dental Education Association for over eight years as Director of Professional Development and Education.

“We strongly believe that Ms. Martinez possesses the leadership experience and judgment to guide our organization in the years to come,” says Paul Swaim, IUVA International President. “I am confident that with her leadership, IUVA will continue to be a thought leader in this arena.”

Ms. Martinez lives in the Washington, D.C., area with her husband. She has two children and is active in her local community. “I am eager to lead such a prestigious association. I look forward to working with the Board and members of IUVA to advance the value of ultraviolet technologies worldwide,” said Ms. Martinez.
