UV Disinfection for Emerging and Developing CountriesThe demand for decentralized water treatment solutions currently has a value of approximately $1 billion and is rapidly growing. Indeed, some estimates of that demand go as high as $5 billion through 2020. The growth rate is linked closely with emerging and developing country market needs for solutions other than the Western Hemisphere's centralized infrastructure model. Ultraviolet disinfection technologies play a central role in many of the point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) treatment packages. The market in India alone for UV-based POE systems can be assessed at $100 million currently.These impressive figures were reason enough for IUVA and UNESCO IHE to team up for a joint symposium clarifying the needs for and the requirements on UV systems operating under POE and POU operating conditions delivering safe and reliable disinfection.Join us in Delft, the Netherlands, on June 7th in the UNESCO IHE facility in Delft and listen to excellent presentations from speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds from financing regulations to science and applications in different global regions such as Europe, the U.S., India and South America.
